What is a WEB ring ?

A WEB ring is a sorted collection of WEB documents with the same or a similar topic, linked by a HTMLfragment or a server-side navigation bar (SSNB). See the HTMLfragment and SSNB sections at the bottom of this WEB document. Visitors may travel between registered WEB documents by the services of the WEB ring organisation ( here: Webring.Org ). In the means, this increases the traffic for all related WEB documents.

What is this WEB ring about ?

This WEB ring is about software and services for Internet content rating and filtering ( like Cybersitter, RSACi / ICRA, SafeSurf, SECLUDE-IT ) and for Internet and TV content control. This includes tools and helpers to wipe out unwanted spam, ads banners, ads breaks and window pop-ups, e.g. like Webwasher. But it is also about WEB sites with navigation and content access resistant to the use of such tools, i.e. there is no much trouble and no much information loss.

Qualifications for WEB sites wanting to join

If you got a WEB document or even a complete WEB site about Webwasher or similar tools, software, algorithms, hardware, Internet services, or if you designed your WEB site to be resistant to the use of such tools, or if you offer any kind of service for this business, you may join. Both commerical and private fan pages are welcome !
At this time, this WEB ring uses Webring.Org services, e.g. for navigation and for maintainance. Therefore, at this time, prerequisition for joining the WEB ring is a Webring.Org ID, which is granted with a free membership at Webring.Org

The WEB ring rules

By joining the WEB ring, you accept that your E-Mail address (which must be valid and operative) will be used to send you non-spam, low volume informative messages regarding this WEB ring or the webring system itself !
You must respect international and national copyrights, trademarks and competition laws.

Instructions on how to join

Straight membership
- Your WEB site must meet the demanded qualifications
- Get a Webring.Org ID !
- Submit your WEB document for approval for the ring. Please use the Add Site link in the HTMLfragment or the Join Now link in the SSNB. Please don't submit a forwarding URL, but use a true URL, only. The submitted URL is intended to be your portal for the WEB ring - its contents must either be dedicated to the topics of the WEB ring or at least all contents pages dedicated to the topic are no more than one click away from the portal page ( i.e. direct one-step links ). The submitted URL must not be the portal of your WEB site
- To enable the loading of the SSNB, HTML code must included in your submitted WEB document, so that the SSNB is loaded in the . Login at My Rings and follow the Get Nav Bar link, or follow the link mentioned in the welcome E-Mail. There, you may cut the HTML code and paste it in your WEB document which is intended for the registered WEB ring page !
- The welcome E-Mail contains precious information in the link which points to the SSNB. See this incomplete example:

  - ring=webwasher - webwasher this is the name of the WEB ring.
  - id=1 - 1 is a WEB ring membership ID for this WEB ring. As this is an example, your number is different, of course. You get a unique number for each submitted WEB document.
  - yid=rolf_hemmerling is a unique Webring.Org membership user ID. As this is an example, your ID is different, of course.
  Please learn this important information and write it down !
- Upload the modified WEB document to your WEB site ( by FTP or HTTP ). Please inspect the uploaded WEB document with your Internet browser, while Javascript is switched on ! Now you see the SSNB of the WEB ring. Be shure that the submitted URL is valid ! Please complete this process within 2 weeks after submission !
- Ask the the ringmaster of this WEB ring to review your WEB site, and if it meets the demanded qualifications, to add it to the ring.
- If your WEB document is moved to another location ( URL ), you must update your WEB ring membership and you must update your WEB document with new HTML code for the SSNB.
- Disclaimer: I reserve the right to delete WEB sites from the WEB ring for any reason. I reserve the right to modify WEB sites descriptions for any reason
Advanced membership
- The straight membership requires visitors of your WEB ring document to have Javascript enabled in their Internet browser to see the SSNB of the WEB ring. If so, data is be loaded from a third-party server ( of the WEB ring organisation ), even if the visitor does not make use of the WEB ring functions. The advanced membership, which is available just by special request, uses static HTML code instead of Javascript code. No data is loaded from a third-party server. I can't guarantee that this advanced membership lasts forever, this depends on the future policy of the WEB ring organisation
- After you joined the WEB ring by the straight membership successfully, you may ask me for advanced membership. If I agree, I send you a HTMLfragment, which replaces the SSNB code of the straight membership.
- Additionally, please download one of the WEB ring graphics to your local computer and rename the graphics file to wwash1.png:
- Upload the WEB ring graphics to your WEB site (by FTP or by HTML upload). Modify the HTMLfragement by fixing the pathname which points to the WEB ring graphics. Upload the WEB document with the new HTMLfragment to your WEB site.

Note that not all elements are available with all WEB rings, due to different software technologies.
