- Photos sent to a receiving device may be deleted by the human sender just within a certain time after sending.
- After some time ( an hour, a day? ), photos sent to a receiving device can'ty be deleted by the human sender, anymore.

- After you added a contact by “ToxID”, the screen name of the new contact is the ToxID.

qTox
- My experience in 2018-01:
With the Windows edition, by mouse-rightclick, there is the menu option “Save chat log” to save the chat messages. Indeed, chat messages are not lost, if you quit qTox. You may “Clear displayed messages” anyhow. Not true anymore in 2024-06 .
- Files ( e.g. photos ) sent by messenger are not available both on the sending and receiving messager anymore, if you quit the messenger and then run it again. So you must save files before you quit a session .
- Using qTox requires a login password. So your chat messages might be low-level protected, against against non-computer expert who gets brief access to your computer.
- qTox doesn´t accepts Tox IDs with broken lines, you must provide an ID as single-line String.
qTox & aTox: Profile Locations

- You may set a password for the Windows client “qTox” and the Android client “aTox”. A given password is transfered by an installation of the profile on another device. So when installing the profile from a Windows client with activated password protection on an Android client, the password is requested one-time during import, and then later after each new start of the Android client!
- The language of the Android client “aTox” is the Android system language, so German on an Android with German as system language.
- At start, all contacts of the transfered profile are named “Unknown” ( German: “Unbekannt” ). If a contact is online, the name of the contact is changed to the original profile name given by the owner of the profile, permanently.
qTox & aTox Profile Transfer: Windows to Android on BlueStacks
- Prerequisites:
- Install “ES File Explorer” ( UpToDown "ES File Explorer", official download by ES App Group ) as second file manager.
- Find the import location in the filesystem:
- Import the ”<username>.tox” file to Bluestacks via MediaManager.
- In the MediaManager, the new file is both listed at the visual folders “Imported Files” and “Explore”.
- The “Explore” folder MediaManager is at “sdcard/DCIM/SharedFolder”.
- Use the “ES File Explorer”:
- To inspect the properties of the file.
- To copy or move the file to a location of the filesystem known to the import function of “aToc”, e.g. to “Download”.
- Failure.
- No matter wether you import the ”<username>.tox” file as original file, or archived in a zip file, both the .tox file and the .zip file aren't listed by the aTox file explorer.
qTox & aTox: No use of Tox with same single ID on several Devices
- With Skype, all messages are sent to all devices with same Skype ID, both of messages received from contacts and messages sent by the profile owner himself from one of the devices with same Skype ID. This isn't true for Tox.
- I was told by experts: You can't be online with several devices and same Tox ID at the same time, i.e. no concurrent use.
- My Experience: The device with same Tox ID, which successfully connects, keeps the connection.
- So it might be, that one device is online and looking for connection to a contact to send it a message, for some time. It fails and so repeats to build a connection on and on. So the human user at the sending device sees the Tox sandclock symbol.
- Now supposed after a while a second device starts looking for connection to the same contact to send it a message.
- When then later the contact is suddenly “online” and so is able to receive messages from the sender with several devices with same Tox ID, one of the devices with same Tox ID will be “winning”. The “winning” device keeps the connection permanently, the other devices don't get any message from the contact, nor can they send messages to the contact, successsfully.
