The Story

Since Summer 2000, I am running my own vanity telephone number 0700-hemmerling. That's was the motivation to develop a software to calculate vanity telephone numbers, since Spring 2001.

Facts

Designed in UML.
The software is coded in "Java2". An adaption for "J#" is under development.
Target operating systems
- for the Java2 version: Windows 95 and newer, Linux, MacOS X, Solaris.
- for the J# version: Windos 98SE and newer.

- Java Swing, AWT, Java Beans, Java Servlets, JDBC, JDO.
- Access to databases ( Pointbase, MySQL, Microsoft Access ).

- IBM Rational Rose 2000 - UML designer during the preliminary study in Summer 2001.
- Borland JBuilder Foundation - IDE and GUI builder during the preliminary study in Summer 2001. GUI builder in Winter 2002/2003.
- Borland Together 5.5 - IDE and UML designer in Winter 2002/2003.
- SUN One Studio, Community Edition ( formerly: Forte ), resp. Netbeans - GUI builder since Winter 2002/2003.
- Eclipse with Omondo EclipseUML - IDE and UML designer since Summer 2003.
- Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Professional - IDE and GUI builder since Summer 2003.
- JUnit - testing framwork, since Winter 2002/2003.
History:
- Summer 2001 - Preliminary study. Prelimnary design of the GUI. Design and coding of a functional "command line" version.
- Winter 2002 / 2003 - First main development phase. Redesign of the GUI. Refactoring of the io-indepedant classes. Design and coding of functional applet and application versions.
- Since Spring 2003 - Introducing Java Beans technologies. Now using JUnit. Adding database functionality. Adding database interfaces.
