ARD, ZDF

  • As of 2023-10, ARD & ZDF don't provide HbbTV 1.5 services anymore. Error message when addressing the services with my TV set “Der Sender kann auf Ihrem Gerät leider nicht angezeigt werden... wir helfen gerne per Email unter zuschauer@ard-digital.de. Fehler E2”.
  • ARD answered:
    • Der ILS-Empfang ist jedoch nur mit neueren Empfangsgeräten (HbbTV 2.0 bzw. mindestens HbbTV 1.5 inkl. MPEG-DASH) möglich.
    • Die HbbTV-Version eines Empfangsgeräts kann man über den User-Agent ersehen:
      1. Nutzen Sie ein Programm der ARD (z.B. Das Erste)
      2. Mit der roten Taste die Startleiste aufrufen
      3. In den Menüpunkt “Einstellungen” unten links gehen und mit OK bestätigen
      4. Mit den Pfeiltasten auf der Fernbedienung zweimal links, einmal rechts, einmal links, einmal rechts drücken (also ⇒ links, links, rechts, links, rechts - zügig drücken)
      5. Der User-Agent (eine oder mehrere Zeilen mit einer Zeichenfolge) des Empfangsgeräts wird angezeigt - irgendwo steht “HbbTV”, gefolgt von 3 Zahlen (z.B. 1.2.1

    • “Menu / Internet / Netflix”.
  • Dashboard with pre-installed apps.
    • “Menu / Internet / SmartTV”.
      • App “Opera” browser:
        • May be operated properly and comfortably with a USB keyboard. With the cursor keys the mouse pointer may be moved, in a comfortable manner.
        • Security errors:
          • However, the browser has a very restrictive contents filter functions ( i.e. erotic websites, but also many normal websites ).
          • Error message “Security Error. This server could not prove that this is XXX.com; its security certificate is not trusted by device's operating system”.
          • There are 2 buttons on this webpage (1) “Back to safety” (2) “Proceeed anyway”.
          • Clicking on the 2 buttons has no effect, mostly. So mostly you have to leave the application by selecting another TV channel, and then return to the browser :-(.
        • Following a web link.
          • Brief click on a web link:
            • Clicking on a link either with the remote control or a USB keyboard by hitting the RETURN key, so that the browser loads the new web page, is very difficult, but almost impossible :-(.
          • Brief long-time click on a web link:
            • After long-time klicking on a link, using the USB keyboard by hitting the RETURN key, there is a menu with the options:
              1. “Link in neuem Tab eröffnen” ⇒ Error messsage “Sie können keine weiteren Tabs öffnen” :-(.
              2. “Zu Lesezeichen hinzufügen”.
              3. “Seitenansicht”.
              4. “Einstellungen”.
              5. “Hilfe”.
              6. “Opera TV Browser schließen”.
          • Clicking on links on web pages mostly ( not just often! ) does not cause any action...
        • Search engines.
          • The search engines “Bing” and “Yandex” work fine :-).
          • The search engine “Google” may not be used :-(, neither by calling the app “Google” nor by calling “google com” by the browser:
          • The search engine “Yahoo” may not be used :-(.
            • Error messages after loading the front page “Security Error. This server could not prove that this is hb.yahoo.net; its security certificate is not trusted by device's operating system”, “Security Error. This server could not prove that this is csync.loopme.me; its security certificate is not trusted by device's operating system”.
            • There are 2 buttons on this webpage (1) “Back to safety” (2) “Proceeed anyway”.
            • Clicking on the 2 buttons has no effect.
          • The search engine “Ecosia” may not be used :-(.
            • There is just a white screen when loading the website :-(.
        • Overall behaviour:
          • The browser doesn't work stable and reliable.

      • Dashboard with pre-installed “gaming apps”. You may install some other “gaming apps”.

        • Frequent error messages, by the games, every few minutes :-(:

      • In the list of TV programs ( “Programmliste” ), there is the TV channel “freenet TV connect”.
      • Selecting this TV channel displays a menu, by which you may install “apps” with additional TV and radio services, including
        1. Streaming TV services:
          1. “Mediatheken”.
          2. “Doku & News”.
          3. “Kids”.
          4. “Sport”.
          5. “Entertainment”.
        2. Online radios powered by Radioplayer.

LAN & WLAN

  • The TV set may be connected to a router either by LAN ( CAT5 cable ) or WLAN ( WiFi 2.4 Ghz, 5 Ghz ).

USB

  • A USB keyboard - US keyboard layout only :-( - is recognized and may be used to enter text. With the cursor keys the mouse pointer may be moved, in a comfortable manner.
  • A USB mouse isn't recognized.
