My Android Phone "BQ Aquaris U"

China

  • The people of GreatChina may not use Google-Play appstore, instead they use local Chinese appstores.
  • Some Chinese smartphone users don´t realize, that they are using a fork of Android operating system, e.g. “ColorOS”. They don´t know the name of their operating system, but name it “Oppo” ( the name of the hardware smartphone manufacturer ). By this, they think that they are using an “incompatible third standard”, so a non-Apple, and non-Android operating system, and that they can´t install native Android apps.
  • The most important Chinese hardware manufacturers for Android-alike smartphones are:

Top Smartphones for South Africa & Namibia

Smartphones with simple User Interface & interaktive Smartcover

Smartphones for 300 EUR in 2025-01

    • “IP68 dust/water resistant (up to 1.5m for 30 min)” :-).
    • “Glass front (Gorilla Glass 3)” :-).

    • Battery 4310 mAh :-( ( instead of 6000 mAh ).
    • No card slot :-(.
      • “Android 14.0 (ab Werk), 5 Betriebssystem-Updates, 5 Jahre Sicherheits-Updates”.

  • Experts told me in 2024-09:
    • “Google Flex” is free for download and personal and even business use :-). However the business model is, that the administration of a set of Chromebooks by “Google Admin Console” is chargeable :-(. This is the “Chrome Enterprise” subscription.
  • Experts told me in 2023-04:
    • Chromebooks are powered by Intel CPUs: You may execute standard Android apps available by Google Play Store, but just if the developer checked ”[x] for Chromebooks too”.
    • Apps installed via Google Play Store, don't install on the Google Chromebook ( with Intel CPU ) but are installed and executed in an Android sandbox ( with ARM CPU ) in the cloud. There are no fees to use these cloud services :-)
    • Each tab in the Google Chrome browser of Chromebook is executed in it's own sandbox.
    • There is a local file system for storage on the Chromebook.
    • Suggestion for software development targeting Google Chromebook: Don't develop Android apps ( run on the server ), but develop “Progressive Web Apps” ( PWA ) made of HTML5, which run on the Chromebook, i.e. within the Chrome browser of the Chromebook. With PWAs, if you are offline, in best case the data modified by the PWAs is stored in cache, and is transfered automatically to the Cloud if you are online next time.
      • The Chromebook app “Microsoft Outlook” is claimed to be such a PWA. The apps of “Microsoft365” are not yet PWAs but it is expected that this might happen in the future.
    • “ChromeOS Flex” is a special “ChromeOS” edition, just for Win10 computers.

Legacy traditional ( non-Smartphone, non-Android ) Telephones

  • “Samsung Ce0168” - My first classical legacy mobile phone, legacy WAP enabled :-), not the legacy tablet.
    • The “PIN” is the login password. Please remember it, you have just 3 tries to enter.
    • If you want to reset the phone to factory settings or delete the phonebook, you are asked for a “Password”, which is not the “PIN”. You were never forced to setup, so probably it is still the default 8-digit password “00000000” ( = 8 times zero ).

Legacy Business Models for mobile Telephones

Resources

  • Criteria to buy a budget Mobilephones in 2023-10.

    • Extra criteria, can just be confirmed by access to the physical device: May the camera photoshot function be mapped on the loundness key, to use “Selfie Sticks” / “Monopads” for taking photos?
    • Extraordinary criteria of 2019-2023: Wireless Charching option?
