Erst dann können Daten aus den Maschinen verschiedener Hersteller mit unterschiedlichen Steuerungen in ERP- und MES-Systeme oder in die Cloud transferiert werden. Dort werden sie weiterbearbeitet bzw. ausgewertet und bilden damit die Grundlage für neue Services und Funktionen.
           • Diese Konnektivität ist der Schlüssel zu allen Mehrwerten und Geschäftsmodellen, die sich die Wirtschaft durch Industrie 4.0 erhofft. Besonders kleinere Mittelständler brauchen die Möglichkeit, ihre Maschinen einfach anbinden zu können, um an den neuen Entwicklungen im IoT-Umfeld teilzuhaben und sich dennoch auf ihr jeweiliges Kern-Know-how konzentrieren zu können.
           • Deshalb hat der VDW gemeinsam mit acht namhaften deutschen Werkzeugmaschinenherstellern und allen wichtigen Steuerungsanbietern vor mehr als einem Jahr die Schnittstelle umati auf den Weg gebracht. Sie steht für universal machine tool interace. Ende 2018 wurde eine Joint working group bei OPC UA eingerichtet. Seither arbeitet die internationale Werkzeugmaschinengemeinde an der Revision und Verbreitung des Standards.
           • Auf der EMO Hannover 2019 wird erstmals eine vollständige Implementierung der Spezifikation mit einer großen Zahl an Partnern vorgestellt. Zuletzt hatten sich fast 50 Hersteller angemeldet, um ihre Maschinen anzubinden. “Der VDW geht davon aus, dass auch erste Produkte angeboten werden, in dem vorkonfigurierte OPC-UA-Server gemäß der Spezifikation direkt in die jeweiligen Steuerungen integriert sind”, erläutert Schäfer.
