    • Swimming pool hall “Hallenbad Ahlen” ( 1958 - 1989 ) - Permanently closed and scrapped.

      • The swimming pool hall, on 2 floors, was for leasure and fun swimming.

      • Icerink ( 1998-2012 ). The wooden house behind the swimming pool hall was the kiosk for the icerink.
      • I was told by staff members, that the swimming pool hall was scrapped after 20 years, as the number of visitors decreased, due to change in usage behavior. Just the Sauna was sucessful in the last few years.

Die Geschichte des Tropa Mare und seiner Macher war eng verknüpft mit dem Westfalen-Einkaufs-Zentrum (WEZ)... Die 1966 geschlossene Zeche an der Bornstraße wurde dem Erdboden gleich gemacht, um Platz für den Bau eines Shoppingcenters zu schaffen. Im Herbst 1971 war ein Großteil des neuen Mammutbaus fertiggestellt, am 14. Oktober 1971 feierte das 'Westfalen-Einkaufs-Zentrum' Eröffnung... Im März 1974 begannen die Planungen, ein Hallenbad nach Vorbild des 'Miramar' in das Dortmunder WEZ zu integrieren... Am 30. April 1975 war es vollbracht... Darüber zu erreichen war eine Sauna-Anlage für bis zu 120 Personen”.

            • Additionally there is a small metal tub above the oven. If it is filled with water with some Sauna infusion flavour, you might turn the metal tub to put water on the stone. But be warned, don´t turn the metal tab with your hand, you would burn your hand, as the metal tub is ulta-heated by the oven!!!
          • As the Sauna rooms textile Saunas, you must enter it with clothes.
          • It's ok if you wear bathing sandals. It is not necessary or usual to put a towel under the feets.
          • For the Finnland Sauna, a very large towel is best, as you can lay the towel round a sort of clothesline at the seat back, so that you don´t put your back directly on the wooden seat back.
          • There is a clock and sandclock for the Finnland Sauna :-). There is no clock for the steam Sauna :-(.

        • Swimming pool hall: Water debth 180cm.
        • Outdoor pool hall: Water debth 140cm.
        • There are showers, toilets, wardrobes, small safes and changing rooms.
        • 2022: “Freibad bis zum 18.09. geöffnet. Das Freibad im AquaFun ist noch bis einschließlich Sonntag, den 18.09. geöffnet. Danach endet die Sommersaison”.
      2. Sauna.
        • Hours of opening:
          • Mon.: Closed :-(.
          • 10:00-20:00 Tues. - Boy's day :-).
          • Wed.: Girls' day :-(.
          • 10:00 - 20:00 Thurs.-Sun. - Mixed audience.
          • In Summer season, there are Sauna infusions all 1.5 hours ( 11:00, 12:30, 14:00, 15:30, 18:00, 19:30, 21:00 ) in Winter season, at every hour ( 11:00, 12:00...).
        • There are showers, toilets, wardrobes, small safes and changing rooms.
        • There is an indoor Sauna dip tank.
        • There is no ice fountain :-(.
        • There are enough clocks :-). However, there is no clock for the steam bath :-(.

      • “Nachdem zunächst nur ein Freibad entstehen sollte, dieses aber nicht genehmigt wurde, musste ein Hallenbad hinzukommen. Aus finanziellen und genehmigungstechnischen Gründen hatte sich der Baubeginn immer wieder verzögert, ehe die Arbeiter 1968 endlich loslegen konnten. Zwei Millionen Mark investierte die Gemeinde Kirchlengern in das neue Bad, das auch den Schulen zur Verfügung stand. Auch die Bürger der Gemeinde unterstützten den Bau des Bades tatkräftig. So sammelte ein eigens zu diesem Zweck gegründeter Förderverein insgesamt 60.000 Mark ein, die für den Einbau eines Hubbodens im Becken genutzt wurde”.
